Russia, Azerbaijan to build railway in north of Iran![]() November 27, 2011 - 16:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia and Azerbaijan have announced readiness to participate in the implementation of USD 400-million Rasht-Astara railway project in the north of Iran, Director-General of International Affairs at Iranian Railways (RAI) said. Abbas Nazari added that the three countries are due to hold a meeting within the next month to decide on signing a contract with an international consultation company to start preliminary studies. According to Nazari, the railway will be 75 km long and will cost $400 million, Tehrantimes reported. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
