Hai Dat rep: Turkey would respect Israel if it recognized Armenian Genocide

Turkey would have more respect for Israel, if it recognized the Armenian Genocide, Hai Dat Bureau representative in Jerusalem said.

“In event of Israel’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Turkey’s more respect for the country would be conditioned by Israel’s proving its independence and power,” Georgette Avagian stated during the Knesset Committee sitting on the issue of Armenian Genocide recognition.

Today, Dec. 26, Knesset Committee for Education, Culture and Sports is debating the issue of introduction of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. Though the proposal was voiced eight months ago its debate was delayed to December 26.

Following the passage of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial by the French National Assembly, Ankara recalled its ambassador from France.
