2012 envisages Turkey’s return to Armenia-Turkey normalization process, political analyst, Regional Studies Center Director said.

Richard Giragosian explained the aforesaid by more complicated nature of Turkey’s other foreign policy challenges.

Dwelling on Armenian-Turkish protocols, Armenian expert ruled out current political value of the document, Ankara’s strategy presently implying not ratification of the Protocols but implementation of the provisions.

Mr. Giragosian noted that sincere motives and not Armenian Genocide should serve a reason for Turkey’s return to normalization process.

The Expert further stressed significant intensification of Armenia’s stance on Armenia-Turkey reconciliation in contrast to Ankara.

Armenian-Turkish normalization process started on RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s initiative in fall 2008. On October 10, 2009 Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers signed protocols expected to be ratified by parliaments of both states.

In August 2011, the protocols were removed from Turkish parliament’s agenda and were brought back in October.
