RPA member: only RPA ready for full shift to proportional system

PanARMENIAN.Net - Only Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) stands ready for the full shift to proportional electoral system, ruling RPA member said.

Artak Zakaryan noted the shift to negatively affect opposition’s chances in the coming elections.

Member of Heritage opposition party Armen Martirosyan ironically suggested RPA not worry about opposition parties’ fate if it is confident of victory regarding full shift to proportional electoral system.

Armenian National Assembly includes 131 parliamentarians, with 41 MPs elected through majority system; 90 MPs - through proportional system.

On December 27, Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun opposition parties issued a joint statement urging for a full shift to proportional electoral system.
