SWITZERLAND AND ARMENIA SIGNED AGREEMENT ON REPATRIATION SIMPLIFICATION OF PERSONS DENIED OF ASYLUM

PanARMENIAN.Net - Switzerland and Armenia signed an agreement on the simplification of the repatriation of the persons who had not been granted asylum. As reported by Arminfo agency according to the Swiss sources, the document also provides for rendering the essential financial assistance in case of free-will return. In the words of the Swiss minister of Justice Ruth Metzler, Armenia is an important transition country for the representatives of the South Caucasus, who appeal for political asylum. Due to the source, 465 Armenians, who petitioned for asylum, were registered in Switzerland in 2002. It should be reminded that in accordance with the data provided by the UN High Commissioner for the Refugees' issues, during the current year 3300 Armenian citizens filed a petition for achieving the refugee status in different countries. Austria occupying the first position in the list is followed by Slovakia, France, Germany and the US. In this index the republic occupies the 20-th position among 40 counties of the world.
