  HEYDAR ALIYEV DROPPED OUT OF ELECTION RACEOctober 3, 2003 - 18:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday Azeri acting president Heydar Aliyev announced about his decision not to run for president at the election to be held October 15. Addressing Azeri people Heydar Aliyev, who is undergoing treatment in the US, stated that he withdraws his candidature in favor of prime minister, first deputy to the chairman of Yeni Azerbaijan ruling party Ilham Aliyev. To note, another presidential contender, Abultalib Samedov nominated by Alliance for Azerbaijan party, has as well withdrawn his candidature in favor of I. Aliyev.
