Armenian chess players prove successful in Aeroflot Open round 7![]() February 14, 2012 - 10:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The 7th round of Aeroflot Open Chess Festival favored Armenian chess players. All players representing Armenia - Hrant Melkumyan, Vladimir Akopian and Karen Grigoryan -scored a victory in the main tournament A. Melkumyan scored a win over Csaba Balogh (Hungary), Akopian beat Ehsan Ghaem Maghami (Iran), while Grigoryan beat Chanda Sandipan (India). The 7th round left Melkumyan 5th with additional 5 points, Grigoryan 21st with 4,5 points and Akopian is placed 34th with 4 points. Mateusz Bartel from Poland tops the tournament list with 5,5 points. The festival prize fund totals 125.000 euro. The three tournaments (A, B, C) will be held in 9 rounds in line with contenders’ ranking points.
