EU WELCOMES ARMENIA'S DETERMINATION TO COMBAT CORRUPTION

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union welcomes Armenia's determination to begin struggle against corruption and join the Group of States against corruption (GRECO), GRECO vice-chair Isabel Van Hors stated at the meeting with Armenian President Robert Kocharian. During the meeting the principal directions and mechanisms of Armenia-GRECO cooperation were discussed. As RA President's adviser Bagrat Yesayan told journalists later, entering this organization Armenia would have to undertake certain commitments. It is expected that in 2005 Armenia will be included in the list of the countries under evaluation and present available information referring condition of combat against corruption, after what a monitoring group will arrive in the country to give the assets and work out recommendations, the fulfillment of which is necessary for the state.
