The ruling Republican Party of Armenia will support its entrepreneur MPs who will run again in majority constituencies, RPA deputy Hovhannes Sahakyan said.
“Of course, RPA will support them. The party will issue a decision on this matter saying we support them,” he said at a press conference.
Sahakyan also reminded of the legislation demanding that businessmen deputies must transfer their business for licensed management for the period of their office in parliament. “Nomination of majority candidates in not an end in itself for us,” he emphasized.
Sahakyan once again confirmed RPA’s pledge not to include businessmen in its proportional list, saying that nomination by majority system is the constitutional right of Armenian citizens.
The National Assembly of Armenia comprises 131 seats; 41 deputies are elected by majority and 90 by proportional system.
