TURKEY INDIGNANT AT NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PRO-ARMENIAN ARTICLE

PanARMENIAN.Net - An article on Armenia published in the March issue of National Geographic journal has caused a surge of indignation in Turkey. According to Turkish Aksam daily, "Rebirth of Armenia" article included "inappropriate pro-Armenian" political comments along with "mean defamatory" expressions addressed to Turkey. The Turkish journalist is indignant that by "distorting" events, taken place in Turkey in early 20-th century, National Geographic stated the Mount Ararat remaining beyond the limits of the present Armenia in the "territory of hostile Turkey" was unjust. Director General of National Geographic magazine in Turkish Murat Arayici called the article "very malevolant." Noting the vainness of the attempts of the Turkish party to prevent the issue of the article in the US, he said, "as the American party did not take those remarks into consideration, the article about Armenia was withdrawn from the Turkish version."
