EU COMMISSIONER TO PRESENT WIDER EUROPE NEW NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVE GOALS TO ARMENIAN LEADERSHIP

PanARMENIAN.Net - Due to the inclusion of Armenia (along with Georgia and Azerbaijan) in the Wider Europe: New Neighborhood EU initiative, European Commissioner Yanosh Patoshnik will arrive in Yerevan July 8. As reported by representative of the European Commission in Armenia and Georgia Jack Vantom, Y. Patoshnik will visit the three South Caucasian countries, presenting the goal and the importance of the EU initiative in question to their leaderships. In J. Vantom's opinion, the inclusion of the South Caucasus in the new EU program will let form the preconditions necessary for closer political and economic cooperation. At that he noted that the financial contribution of the EU countries to the South Caucasus is possible only beginning in 2007. Before that the list of the measures, including political and economic reforms in the three countries of the region will be worked out.
