AZERI KEY MASS MEDIA AND JOURNALIST ORGANIZATIONS' EDITORS ARRESTEDJuly 28, 2003 - 20:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Last Saturday the Azeri police arrested the senior staff of the country's leading mass media and journalist organizations. As reported by the Baku sources, this took place near "Yeni Musavat" newspaper editor-in-chief Rauf Harifogly's house, where the editors and leaders of journalist organizations gathered fearing for his security because of the threats made by Azeri governmental circles. "Yeni Musavat" newspaper editor-in-chief, Press Council leader, "Turan" agency director and some others have been arrested. They were told that they had violated the traffic rules while "processioning" along Baku streets. The journalists viewed the incident as "moral terror" in regard to the opposition mass media.
