CONDITION OF ARMENIANS AT GEORGIAN-OSSETIAN BORDER STILL GRAVE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Residents of the Georgian town of Tskhinval provided shelter to Armenian women and children, who were stopped on their way to Armenia near the settlement of Ergneti at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia. The male passengers stayed at occurrence location. As the bus passengers told Regnum news agency, two women, who approached the Georgian police post, were beaten and insulted and then frightened away to the South Ossetian territory. "But we asked the policemen only one question: the day before yesterday you told us you'll let us pass in an hour, then you postponed it for the evening, so what why don't you let us go", the women passengers told the journalist. In their words, at night Georgians fire into the air in the direction of the buses, on one of which marks of bullets can be seen. "If they are slow to let us pass, we will go, let them fire upon us. Let the whole world know that civilians may be shot", the driver of one of the buses said. According to the source, one of the drivers managed to force his way to Tbilisi, where he appealed to the OSCE Georgian Office, the Red Cross and the EU Representative Office. However the officials say they are at loss either to show their weakness or just starting from unwillingness to help. "In the EU representative office", the driver says, "I was advised to appeal to the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights". To note, Armenian Consul to Georgia Artur Sargsian, some diplomats and a priest form an Armenian Church came to see the passengers, bringing with them blankets and food. "The situation is extremely grave. We brought the essentials for the people. The Armenian government is holding negotiations with the Georgian party to settle this issue at present", Sargsian stated. To remind, Southern Ossetian President Eduard Koykoty met with the Armenian citizens and gave an order to render them assistance, including foodstuff, medical care and hotel apartments, the latter however was not accepted by the Armenians. Later two ambulances arrived and the doctors examined the passengers providing them with necessary medicaments.
