US ASSIGNED $1 MILLION TO HOLDING ARMENIAN ELECTIONS

PanARMENIAN.Net - The US has assigned $1 million as technical assistance for holding the presidential and parliamentary elections in the country. As US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway said today, "Mediamax" agency reports, the funds will be used only for technical re-equipment of the district electoral centers and implementation of retraining programs for members of the commissions. In the ambassador's words, inculcation of an automated system of counting the votes is also expected. At the same time J.Ordway did not specify concrete terms of implementation of the program, noting it depended on the central electoral commission of Armenia and the district commissions.
