EU TO CONTINUE SEARCH FOR SOLUTIONS FOR CONFLICT SETTLEMENT IN SOUTH CAUCASUS

PanARMENIAN.Net - One of the key tasks of the newly appointed European Union representative for the South Caucasus will be using the EU potential for effective contribution to efforts by international organizations involved in conflict settlement in the region. Christopher Patten, European commissioner for external relations, told "Mediamax" agency. "The EU wishes to make clear the opportunities of contribution to progress in the South Caucasus. In close cooperation with the countries of the region and international organizations, we will continue the search for solutions, directed at prevention and settlement of conflicts, as well as post-conflict rehabilitation of the region," - the commissioner noted. At the same time he emphasized that the main efforts in the matter should be made by the countries of the region themselves.
