KARABAKH CONFLICT MEDIATORS ACTIVE TO DEGREE LET BY DEVELOPMENTSOctober 26, 2002 - 19:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The international mediators in settling the Nagorno Karabakh conflict are active to the degree allowed by the developments. US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway stated it. He recognized that solving it appeared a more complicated task than it had seemed to Washington at the negotiations in Paris and Key West in 2001. The US mediator was active at the time, as he saw certain opportunities that could help to reach positive results, the ambassador said. In his words, at present the US actively works together with the OSCE Minsk group other co-chairs - Russia and France, but Armenia and Azerbaijan are in a pre-electoral period, which is not the best time for compromise. The Armenian and Azeri Presidents plan to hold the next meeting within the next few months. The mediators try to organize the meeting at the level of their personal representatives, the US diplomat reported.
