RUSSIAN-AMERICAN WORKING GROUP ON STRUGGLE AGAINST TERROR PROMOTES RUSSIA-SOUTH CAUCASIAN STATES COOPERATION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Since Georgia and Azerbaijan are included in the anti-terror coalition, the Russian-American working group on the struggle against terror promotes a closer cooperation of these Trancaucasian states with Russia. Russian first deputy foreign minister Vyacheslav Trubnikov has expressed this opinion in his interview with "NHK" Japanese TV company. According to him, the decisions made by the Azeri and Georgian authorities on handing over the criminals to Russian side are to some extent result of the Russian-American cooperation. Trubnikov noted "As a rule, the financing of the Chechen illegal military units is received from several neighboring states". Thereupon, Russia "calls on those stated to take the control over these activities". "We inform our partners in the South Caucasus on the ways that, according to our data, are used for financing terrorists and we often meet with understanding of the official authorities that take into consideration our reports and take measures to prevent penetration of financial means to Chechnia", Trubnikov noted.
