INNER TOURISM ACTIVITY GOES UP IN ARMENIAJune 10, 2002 - 23:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - This year it is expected that 80000 tourists will visit Armenia. This exceeds the tourism activity in 2000 by 25-30%. This is concerned with the last year celebration of the 1700 anniversary of the adoption of the Christianity by Armenia. As the head of the tourism department of the ministry of trade and economic development Arthur Zakarian has stated in his interview with "De-Facto" agency correspondent, process of the development of the inner tourism is observed. This summer the increase of the inner tourism by 15% is expected. Hotels and holiday homes in Tsakhkadzor, Dilijan, Arzni and Jermuk are the most popular for the residents of Armenia. Zakarian explains the same pace of development of inner tourism with improvements of the social economic conditions in the republic and the increase of paying capacity of the population.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
