"ARMENTEL" TO FINANCE PROJECT OF BUILDING MEGHRI-MARAND FIBER-OPTIC COMMUNICATION LINE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today the meeting of the experts in the sphere of telecommunications of "Armenia-Greece-Iran" trilateral cooperation took place in the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Armenia. Questions connected with laying the fiber-optic cable, which will connect the Armenian town of Meghri with Iranian Marand town were discussed. In the words of deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Vaghinak Kocharian, the agreement on beginning the construction of the fiber-optic communication line will be achieved in the near future. A task is put to finish the works before the end of summer. "ArmenTel" Armenian-Greek company will take the main costs of financing of the line construction. Meghri-Marand fiber-optic communication line, whose length will make 150 kilometers, will let strengthen the connection between the telecommunication systems of Armenia and Iran and will make Armenia into a telecommunication transit zone.
