KIRK KRKORIAN US BILLIONAIRE FINANCES RECONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIAN MOTOR ROADSApril 22, 2002 - 20:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Lincy" foundation created by famous US billionaire of Armenian origin Kirk Krkorian has allocated 80$ million to reconstruction of the Armenian motor roads of regional significance. As chief of the program Eduard Bezoyan said in the conversation with the "Arminfo" correspondent, in particular it is planned to restore and build some 600 kilometers of roads and to build two tunnels. 8$ million have already been spent to the moment. Sevan-Dilijan tunnel will be put into operation October 20, 2003. In Bezoyan's words, it is planned to resume construction of Spitak-Nalband unfinished tunnel, too. And Yerevan-Sevan motor road will be put into operation before November 2002. Two parts of Vanadzor-Dilijan route are already put into operation, and before the end of the year the road will be completely ready. The restored Dilijan-Ijevan 47-kilometer-long highway will also be put into operation before the end of the year. The second part of the program of reconstruction of the motor roads of Armenia provides for renewal of Sevan-Martuni-Yeghegnadzor motor road through Selim pass, Yerevan-Armavir-Isahakian-Gyumri route, beginning continuing the construction of the Ashtarak bridge, reconstruction of 9 railway bridges of Vanadzor-Ayrum branch, as well as the Nor-Hachn and Stepanavan bridges.
