CHAIRMAN OF ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT COMMISSION CALLED POLITICAL FORCES TO DISCUSS SITUATION IN SOUTH CAUCASUS IN LIGHT OF US FORCES INTRODUCTION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of commission on state-legal affairs of Armenian Parliament Viktor Dallakian called upon the country leadership and the political forces to discuss the situation regarding introduction of US Armed Forces into the South Caucasus and to convene parliamentary hearings with that purpose. In his words, the presence of US military units in the Republic of Georgia will lead to a situation when both Russian and NATO troops are simultaneously present in South Caucasus. "Such developments can negatively tell on Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh," - V.Dallakian noted. He supposed that "after the final affirmation of NATO forces in South Caucasus a force will appear that will try to make Armenia and NKR to accept an unfavorable resolution of the Karabakh conflict." Besides, Dallakian noted that quartering US Air Forces in Georgia was directed towards non-admission of cessation of the Georgian state. "From that point of view one cannot exclude the possibility that the US forces may appear in Azerbaijan with a similar mission," - he noted. Meanwhile Dallakian emphasized that "already at the end of 2001 the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan stated that one of the main goals of the American diplomacy in Baku was restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity." "Hence, very dangerous trends are being outlined in Karabakh conflict settlement and we should be ready to anything," - he stated.
