Ashot Manucharyan: Armenia was obligated to attempt rapprochement with Turkey![]() May 11, 2010 - 16:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia-Turkey rapprochement was not RA’s initiative, stated Ashot Manucharyan, former national security advisor to the first President of Armenia. “A country initiating such process must continue with it, which was not the case here,” he told reporters on May 11. “Armenia was obligated to attempt rapprochement with Turkey, being unable to refuse superpowers. We should have put the process to maximum use. At the same time, the dialogue should have involved the whole Armenian nation but not Armenia only,” Manucharyan said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
