LORD RUSSELL JOHNSTON HAS REJECTED HIS WORDS SAID IN YEREVAN

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Lord Russell Johnston, who has arrived in Baku, has rejected his words said in Yerevan. He has stated that Armenian media distorted the meaning of his statements regarding the legitimacy of the elections to the bodies of the local government taken place in Nagorno-Karabakh. It should be reminded that at the meeting with Prime-Minister Andranik Markaryan, foreign minister Vartan Oskanyan and also at the final press conference he unequivocally stated " the statement of the European Council that the elections to the bodies of the local government in Nagorno Karabakh were not legitimate is a result of a mistaken approach". "Actually the holding of the elections to the bodies of the local government in Karabakh can not have negative influence on the peaceful settlement of Karabakh problem", stated Johnston in Yerevan.
