Armenian servicemen to be entitled to disobey commanders’ orders

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian National Assembly debated Tuesday a bill on the Disciplinary Charter of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

“This initiative is a demand of the Armenian Constitution. It determines the rights of ordinary soldiers and supreme command,” said Hrayr Karapetyan, chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense, internal and security affairs. “The draft bill reads that a serviceman is entitled to disobey commanders’ orders which conflict with the legislation or go beyond the authority of the commander.”

Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazaryan said that adoption of new Disciplinary Charter is conditioned by the army reform.
