KARABAKH PEACE TALKS MUST BE HELD ON BASIS OF NEW CONCEPT, LEADER OF ARMENIAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY SAYS

PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, May 17. /Mediamax/. The proposal to leave "nominally" Nagorno Karabakh within Azerbaijan means that Nagorno Karabakh will never be de jure recognized as an independent state and all the issues regarding it will be considered the domestic affairs of Azerbaijan.

Expressing his concern with such a prospect, Head of the Democratic party of Armenia, Aram Sarkisian said that "In defense of NKR" organizational committee and "In defense of liberated territories" public initiative were going to propose to Armenian President a new concept for settlement, which assumes shifting the peace process to legal field.

Aram Sarkisian said that the concept would be based on two points: during the national liberation war the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was not broken, and the independence of the NKR was declared in full accordance with international legal norms. Sarkisian hopes that the "In defense of NKR" committee will be able to convince the world community and the Armenian authorities that this approach is the only optimal way out from the existing situation in negotiations. --0--
