ARMENIA VALUES THE CONSISTENT SUPPORT OF THE UNITED STATES, PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA SAID IN NY

"We highly value the consistent and manifest support of the United States throughout all the past ten years of Armenia's re-established independence", President of Armenia Robert Kocharian said, speaking today at "Armenia Investor Conference 2001" business forum, which opened Thursday in New York Plaza Hotel, the special correspondent of Mediamax reports from New York.

Robert Kocharian expressed confidence that the progress in transforming Armenia's economy has been opening ways to a gradual upgrading of such support. Humanitarian assistance programs are giving way to a considerably different nature of cooperation, in which commercial aspects prevail, President Kocharian said.

The President of Armenia also particularly thanked Mr. James Wolfensohn, the president of the World Bank, "for his personal input towards the success of this conference". President Kocharian noted that this business forum is a notable example of Armenia's productive cooperation with the international financial organisations, first of all, the World Bank and its institutions. --0--
