"GOSSTRAKH-ARMENIA" PAYS OFF THE DEBTS OF EX "GOSSTRAKH"

PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, April 26. /Mediamax/. General Director of the Russian insurance company "ROSNO", Yevgeniy Kurgin said today at a briefing in Yerevan that the insurance market in Armenia is at the initial stage of development and his company is going to assist its "intensification".

Kurgin said that beginning April 1st, the Armenian insurance company "Gosstrakh-Armenia", founded by "ROSNO" in cooperation with "Gosstrakh" of Armenia, began to operate. The company is going to realize a number of insurance projects in Armenia, specifically to insure natural persons, transport, property, etc. The realization of insurance projects in Armenian regions is also planned.

As Kurgin informed, in near future, "ROSNO" is going to submit for consideration to the National Assembly of Armenia the bills "About obligatory medical insurance" and "About insurance against accidents in enterprises".

During the last 20 days, the newly established "Gosstrakh-Armenia" company has been paying off the debts of "Gosstrakh" to private and juridical persons, the total amount of which amounts to 30 million drams, General Director of "ROSNO" said.

OJSC "ROSNO" is one of the leading companies in Russia's insurance market. In August 2000, in accord with the decision of the Armenian Government, the company founded in cooperation with "Gosstrakh" a new insurance company, "Gosstrakh-Armenia". In return for 50% of shares of the new company, "ROSNO" has invested 30 million drams of fixed capital. --0--
