"MEMBERSHIP IN THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE IS AN ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ARMENIA AND GEORGIA", GEORGIAN MINISTER SAID

PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, March 28. /Mediamax/. Foreign Minister of Georgia Irakly Menagarishvili said today after his talks with the President of Armenia Robert Kocharian that they discussed a wide range of issues on bilateral relations and regional problems.

The Georgian Minister said that after Armenia's accession to the Council of Europe the two countries got "an additional opportunity". "We hope we'll use this opportunity to promote democratic processes in our countries", Menagarishvili said. He stated that on behalf of Georgian president Shevarnadze he officially congratulated President Kocharian on the accession to the CoE.

Menagarishvili stated that questions on the official visit of the Georgian president to Armenia in 2001 were also discussed at the meeting with Robert Kocharian.

Armenian President and Foreign Minister of Georgia discussed also issues of bilateral economic cooperation. The problem of Georgia's debt to Armenia is still to be discussed, Menagarishvili said. "This question will be touched upon in the context of Georgia's agreements with the Creditors Club of Paris at the upcoming meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, to be held in Yerevan", Georgian Minister said
