NATO NOT CONSIDERING OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE MILITARY BASES IN AZERBAIJAN YET

PanARMENIAN.Net - Welcoming Azerbaijan's will to enter the NATO, the North Atlantic Alliance leadership does not consider the opportunity of creation of its military bases in the Azeri territory at present. As reported by "Oreanda" Russian agency, NATO secretary general George Robertson made this statement in the Azeri parliament. In his words, from the point of view of accession to the NATO Azerbaijan has the most serious geographic preconditions and economic potential among the countries of the region. In the course of negotiations in Baku Robertson discussed the terms for the country accession to the NATO in 2006-2007. The alliance head stated it at a press conference by the end of his visit to Azerbaijan last evening. In his words, one of the conditions for being invited to the NATO is free and democratic presidential election in Azerbaijan, which will be held this October. At the same time G. Robertson announced support to the policy pursued by Azeri present leader Heydar Aliyev. The NATO head emphasized the conflict unsettled condition weakened the region much.
