MEMBERSHIP IN THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE WILL MAKE ARMENIAN-UKRAINIAN RELATIONS CLOSER, L. KUCHMA THINKS

PanARMENIAN.Net - 06.02.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. President of the Ukraine Leonid Kuchma forwarded congratulatory message to Armenian President R. Kocharian on the occasion of Armenia's accession to the Council of Europe.

As Mediamax was informed in the Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia, the message particularly noted that Ukraine takes Armenia's membership in such authoritative European organization as an important event not only in the history of Armenia, but the CE as well. Leonid Kuchma voiced confidence that the further integration of Armenia to Europe will mark the consolidation of stability and security in the Caucasian region, as well as on the whole European continent.

Ukrainian president is sure that Armenia's membership in the Council of Europe will make the relations between Armenia and Ukraine even closer, and "long-standing historical ties of the Armenian and Ukrainian people, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries will be supplemented with new achievements".--0--
