ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE REFUSED TO TAKE PART IN THE TENDER FOR THE PRIVATIZATION OF THE DISTRIBUTIVE POWER NETWORKS OF ARMENIA

PanARMENIAN.Net - 14.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The French Electricite de France (EDF) refused to take part in the tender for the privatization of the distributive power networks of Armenia, a tender commission source told Mediamax.

The source didn't specify the reason of the company's refusal. Now, after EDF's refusal, three companies are pretending to the privatization of the 4 distributive power networks of Armenia: the Spanish "Union Fenosa", the American "AES Silk Road" and the Swiss-Swedish "ABB"

The winner of the tender for privatization of 4 distributive power networks of Armenia will be announced by February 28, 2001, while the process will end in March 2001.

On December 5 the Government of Armenia and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on direct sale of 19.9% of shares of each of the 4 distributive power networks of Armenia, presented in the international tender. -0-
