TURKEY IS NOT IMPARTIAL IN KARABAKH ISSUE SETTLEMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - 13.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "The OSCE Minsk Group started its last visit with Turkey, which, I believe, is conditioned by the activization of the process on the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide", the chairman of the parliamentary commission of Armenia for foreign affairs Hovanes Hovanisian stated in the interview to Mediamax.

The parliamentarian said that Turkey this way or other influences on the course of the Karabakh conflict settlement. He noted at the same time that the "not impartial position of Turkey in this issue is commonly known".

Hovanisian voiced his opinion that in the course of the talks with the Foreign Minister of Turkey, the co-chairmen wanted to get Ankara's guarantees to normalize its relations with Yerevan in case a progress in the process of the Karabakh issue settlement is achieved.

"If the Minsk Group co-chairmen keep on trying to involve Turkey in the settlement process, the Armenian side will have to display a more serious approach to this question", Hovanisian stressed. -0-
