THE QUESTION OF ENTERING DOUBLE-CITIZENSHIP SYSTEM IN ARMENIA WILL BE DISCUSSED IN NOVEMBER

PanARMENIAN.Net - 29.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The whole package of constitutional amendments, including the point about entering double-citizenship system in Armenia will be submitted for consideration to the National Assembly in November.

The president of Armenia Robert Kocharian stated this today at the meeting with representatives of the Armenian diaspora, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press office of the president of the country.

The president stressed that only after the large approval by all the political forces, represented in the parliament, the package of constitutional amendments may be passed to referendum.

Entering the double citizenship system was one of the capital promises of Robert Kocharian during his electoral campaign in 1998. The present constitution prohibits double citizenship which is a preventing factor for the economic presence of diaspora Armenians on their motherland. -0-
