ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SIGNED NEW CRIMINAL CODE REPEALING DEATH PENALTY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian president Robert Kocharian signed the new Criminal Code passed by the Armenian parliament April 18 and providing for full repeal of death penalty in the republic. Let us note that in compliance with the new Code, life imprisonment will be used as extreme penalty in Armenia. Besides, Kocharian has signed the law "On giving effect to the new Criminal Code" passed by the parliament, according to which the repeal of death penalty does not apply to people, who had committed a number of heinous crimes before the adoption of the new Code.
