ROBERT KOCHARIAN: REGIONAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION WILL CREATE GOOD ATMOSPHERE FOR KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - 13.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Armenia speaks for the beginning of regional economic cooperation, stated Armenian President Robert Kocharian at the meeting with the head of the Commission for Constitutional questions of the European Parliament, Ursula Schleiher, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press office of the president.

Armenian president stated that the mutual economic dependence of the regional countries will promote the formation of a certain atmosphere, which will create favorable conditions for settling regional conflicts.

Robert Kocharian also noted that after the Agreement of Partnership and Cooperation between the European Union and the South Caucasian states was signed in 1999, the cooperation in many fields has been actively developing.

Mrs. Schleiher said she speaks for Armenia's soonest full membership in the European family. In that connection, President Kocharian stressed that Armenia doesn't object the simultaneous accession to the Council of Europe with Azerbaijan, but is however against that membership issues of both the countries were put in direct dependence from each other. -0-
