4 PEOPLE HAVE DIED AS A RESULT OF MINE EXPLOSION FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS

PanARMENIAN.Net - 22.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. According to the information of the governmental commission of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, 4 people have died and 5 were wounded in different regions of RNK as a result of mine explosion for the past 6 months, reports the correspondent of MEDIAMAX from Stepanakert.

The governmental commission on mine problems of RNK is examining mine fields and mine clearing. It cooperates with Stepanakert office of the International Committee of Red Cross, which carries preventive work to warn the population against mine danger, and the non-governmental British "HALO Trust" organization, that has resumed its activity in Nagorno Karabakh on specialists preparation and demining of the territories after several years' break.

The special subdivision of the engineer service of the Defense Army of RNK is also carrying out works on mine clearing. It has demined 29 hectares in Askeran and Hadrut regions of the republic. -0-
