YEREVAN CELEBRATES 2785-TH BIRTHDAY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Celebrations devoted to the Day of Yerevan began in the Armenian capital today. 2785 years ago Argishti, the tsar of Urartu, built a town-fortress where the city of Yerevan appeared later. The celebrations are to last till October 12. Measures devoted to the 172-th anniversary of Eastern Armenia's joining to Russia, initiated with the participation of the Yerevan and Moscow city administration and the Union of Armenians of Russia will be also held. On the invitation of Yerevan mayor Yervand Zakharian, the delegation of Moscow government headed by prefect of the Central Administrative Okrug Gennady Degtev as well as the delegations from Kiev and Rostov-on-Don will take part in the celebrations.
