NUMBER OF STARVING PEOPLE IN ARMENIA WILL NOT DECREASE OWING TO BLOCKADE, US AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT CONSIDERS

PanARMENIAN.Net - Because of the blockade imposed by the neighbor countries, cereals comprise 25% of foodstuff imported to Armenia, thus resulting in the deficiency of grain-crops amounting in 187 000 tons annually, as special report of the US department of agriculture says. The document points out the fact, that the blockade is not expected to be raised within the next few years, consequently the number of hungry men will not decrease in Armenia in near future. The department's specialists suggest a way-out of this situation by reconsidering the ration of the population, replacing cereal products by other foodstuff. In the opinion of the American party, it will allow to decrease the number of starving people in Armenia three times, Central-Asian News agency reports.
