TBILISI INCREASES PRESSURE ON AKHALKALAKI RESIDENTS PROVIDING FUEL AND PRODUCTS TO RUSSIAN BASE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Simultaneous to the Russian-Georgian talks over withdrawal of Russian military bases from the territory of Georgia, pressure put upon the bases by Tbilisi notably increases. As reported by A-Info agency referring to reliable sources, upon a private order of Tbilisi force structures of Akhalkalaki region started strictly controlling firms and people, who have arranged economic ties with the 62-nd Russian military base situated in the region. The matter is that fuel, food and other necessary stuff is provided to the base by local entrepreneurs of through their mediation. The same source reported that those organizations and people may refuse from deals concluded with the base due to either direct or indirect pressure of Tbilisi. At the same time the attitude of Georgian traffic inspectors has become especially rude towards the cars owned by the Russian base. 5 lorries of the base were illegally detained lately in Marneuli town within a few days, which caused damage to the economic entities. It should be reminded that Akhalkalaki is one of the Georgian regions, mainly populated by Armenians.
