POLICE BROKE UP RALLY IN BAKU

PanARMENIAN.Net - Baku police dispersed the rally organized by the staff of Hurriyet newspaper, a publishing company of the Azerbaijani opposition Democratic Party. As reported by Interfax agency, the police officers have detained five picket participants. The editorial staff tried to arrange a picket in front of the Public Prosecutor's Office and demanded to discharge Rauf Arifoglu, editor-in-chief of Yeni Musavat opposition newspaper and Baki-Khabar employee Sadig Ismailov. To remind, both adherents of Musavat opposition party leader and ex-presidential contender Isa Gambar were arrested October 15, 2003, on the day of the presidential election in Azerbaijan.
