EU Interest in Settlement of Karabakh Issue Explicable

PanARMENIAN.Net - EU interest in settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is quite explicable, political scientist Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. «Europe has ceased being a geographic concept for 10 years already and it became an economic and ideological entity. After it became clear that Turkey has not got a chance for EU accession in the coming 50 years, the EU tries to involve as many countries into its sphere of influence as possible, including our region,» he remarked. In his words, Europe's presence in the region is necessary to Europe itself and then to South Caucasian countries. At the same time he was skeptical over the opportunity to settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict with the help of the EU.
