Armenia ranks 8th in the world in curing TB

PanARMENIAN.Net - World TB Day, held on March 24 each year, is an occasion for people around the world to raise awareness about the international health threat presented by tuberculosis (TB), an illness which takes away a life every 20 seconds.



1519 cases of active tuberculosis were reported in Armenia in 2008.



Besides cooperation with Doctors Without Borders, the republic has won a 6.5 million euro grant to cure TB.



World Health Program's Directly Observed Treatment Short-course is also implemented to cut TB occurrence rates and deaths.
