Turkish Prime-Minister did all in Davos to snatch out leadership from Iran

How the Armenian lobby wished Turkish Prime-Minister's conduct in Davos would have no effect on the Jewish lobby's position on the Armenian Genocide!

Erdogan's demarche in Davos aroused vain hopes in the US Armenian Community, as well as in the whole Armenian nation that the Jewish lobby might contribute to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Turkey on the side of the US Congress. At first glance, the Turkish press is seriously alarmed at such turn of events and keeps reminding that Turkey and Israel are allies and that the Davos occurrence was not aimed against the Jews.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Exactly! The Turkish Prime-Minister did not as much speak against Israel as he tried to convince participants of the assembly to recognize the regional power of Turkey. Even Iran was caught in this net by expressing her deep gratitude towards Istanbul, whereas it is especially Tehran should have been against Turkey's supremacy in the region. Turkish Prime-Minister did all in Davos to snatch out leadership from Iran and whether he succeeded or not will show in the coming months.

How the Armenian lobby wished Turkish Prime-Minister's conduct would have no effect on the reassessment of the Jewish lobby's position on the Armenian Genocide! Hardly is there such a probability. The only thing the US Jewish organizations should do is not to hinder Obama's Administration recognize the Armenian Genocide. But even that will have a formal faзade: there will be adopted a resolution similar to the 106th that was called House Resolution and had no legal effect. However, even this is not acceptable for Turkey as in that case the problem of compensations would come to the fore, let alone the fact that the whole world would have to put Ankara side by side with Hitlerite Germany, Rwanda, and Cambodia. Ankara fears it most and this is the reason that various campaigns and calls on forming joint commissions are launched.

In the words of Turkish expert Sedat Laciner, the Armenian issue pops up every time there is a problem in the course of the Armenian-Turkish relations. But he also considers that even in the event of an April 24 message by Obama mentioning the term 'genocide,' this may not be devastating for Turks. "The public is accustomed to the idea that Obama might do something that the previous administrations did not do on the Armenian issue. It's been out there since the election campaign," said Laciner.

However, Israel sees otherwise. For any Jew the Holocaust is something immeasurable, dreadful and only Jewish, that is why no other massacre can ever be recognized a genocide. Absurdity of this issue is so apparent that it is needless to dwell on it. What we find interesting is that in their statements on the 1915 events most of the Jewish scientists call them «merely» a deportation and refer to the Turkish version: Armenians were citizens of the Ottoman Empire against which Russia was fighting then, so they were preparing a "stab in the back" for Turks… Thus, to recognize the Armenian Genocide means for Israel to equal it with the Holocaust, and the Jews could never do it.

The most interesting point here is that even if the United States passes the Congress Resolution on the Armenian Genocide, nothing is going to be changed for Israel and Turkey. There is one circumstance here: as soon as Barack Obama calls off the troops from Iraq and signs a contract with Iran, it would imply a gradual withdrawal of the USA from the Middle East. In this case the Turkish-American relations would not be strained, which in practice means freezing the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. However, we should not miss the chief point here - recognition of the Armenian Genocide is the moral imperative not as much of the USA as that of Turkey. And future of the region depends on it. Ankara knows that after the recognition Armenia will lay some other claims too. Sooner or later the problem of compensation will come to the fore. Nevertheless, presently the Turkish Government has no time either for Armenians, or for the relations with Israel and the USA. The country is in strained political situation, and after the elections in March it will become clear what foreign policy Turkey will adopt.
