Stuttgart commemorates victims of Sumgait pogroms![]() March 28, 2012 - 10:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian community in Germany’s Baden-Württemberg land held an event to commemorate the victims of Armenian pogroms in Sumgait and other Azerbaijani cities. Organized jointly with European Artsakh Center, Maral organization and Armenian-German cultural societies, the event took place in one of central churches in Stuttgart on March 23. Father Tiratur, priest of Baden-Württemberg’s Armenian community spoke at the event and served a mass afterwards, European Artsakh Center reports. Permanent representative of Artsakh Republic in Germany Harutyun Grigoryan told about Armenian pogroms and other atrocities of Azerbaijani authorities, as well as the situation that emerged due to lack of international condemnation of crimes committed by Azerbaijan’s government. Pianist Sophia Melikyan, graduate of Armenian Tchaikovsky musical school and Madrid’ Royal Conservatory, Master of Arts in Manhattan school, performed during the event. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees. Friday night 8 trees were torched along the beautiful main entrance.
