CIS SERVICEMEN "RESPONDED" TO NATO ENLARGEMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - A command-staff training of the CIS United System of Air-Raid Defense with the participation of units, warplanes, anti-aircraft rockets and radio-technical sub-units of 8 CIS member-states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Russia and Tajikistan - took place yesterday. The planes belonging to different countries maneuvered, gassed in the air, landed on airdromes of the friendly states and tried to act upon the planes hijacked by "terrorists". At the same time, as reported by Vremya Novostey Moscow newspaper, the Russian military men denied that the training is a response to the idea of deploying NATO pursuit planes in Lithuania. In their words, there do not exist any problems connected with NATO what can hardly be said of some nearest neighbors. For instance, A-50, a plane of radio-locating detection (Russian analogue of Awacs) was to patrol the territory of Armenia, however Georgia was in no hurry to provide the air corridor and the pilot had to fly over Dagestan. But it should be noted that from the height he could watch Armenia as well.
