  Armenian expert proposes to deploy “peacekeepers” in Syria October 15, 2012 - 18:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Vice-Chairman of the Russian Academy for Geopolitical Issues Araik Sargsyan has suggested Armenia deploy peacekeepers to defend Syrian’s Armenian community, given RA mission in Kosovo. “The group may comprise 20-25 persons, who will guard Armenian-inhabited districts and protect the residents,” he said. The expert further stressed the need for a local defense system to be applied in those districts. “Unfortunately, Syrian Armenians proved rather disorganized in applying the system,” he said, noting RA as the community’s only hope today. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
