SATTO: Twinning, ТAIEX programs target Armenia’s legal system

PanARMENIAN.Net - Twinning and ТAIEX programs are first of all aimed at harmonizing Armenian legislation with that of the EU, Support to Armenian Program Administration Office for Twinning and TAIEX Operations Project (SATTO) team leader said.

According to Patrick Mousnier-Lompré, EU experts’ support to Armenian state institutions aims to promote assistance in the framework of Association Agreement and country’s joining Free Trade Area agreement.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan, in turn, noted that over 70 ТAIEX Programs were implemented in Armenia since 2009, with 18 Twinning programs currently in progress. He further noted food security, intellectual property, boosting of tax and customs administration among the fields the projects target.

The total cost of Twinning and ТAIEX operations implemented in the past 4 years amounted to euro 2 mln.

“New Twinning and ТAIEX programs will be implemented in Armenia in 2013-2014,” Deputy Minister Melkonyan said.
