LITHUANIA TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian met with Lithuanian parliament speaker Arturas Paulauskas, RA government's press service reported. Noting the importance of activation of mutual visits for strengthening bilateral relations, the parties noted that the agreements achieved during the visit will contribute to the consolidation of the Armenian-Lithuanian relations and development of cooperation between the Baltic and South Caucasian states. Stressing that having chosen the path of Eurointegration Armenia should first of all bring the operating legislation to European standards Andranik Margarian noted that a special commission for the issues of integration into the European structures has been formed in the RA parliament. He also said that Armenia is ready for regional cooperation including Turkey and official Yerevan counts for Lithuania's support. As for the economic cooperation, the parties noted the importance of preparation and signing of a number of intergovernmental agreements, exchange of experience and possibility of Lithuanian investments into the Armenian economy. In his turn Arturas Paulauskas said that Armenia and Lithuania have common opinions and approaches on many issues, what is a good basis for mutually beneficial cooperation. Andranik Margarian reiterated that he counts for Lithuania's support for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. In this view A. Paulauskas said that Lithuania that befell a similar tragedy will exert efforts to solve the problem within regional policy. Today the delegation will return to Armenia.
