Armenian cross to be installed in North Pole![]() April 4, 2013 - 12:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In April-August 2013, under the auspices of Russian Geographical Society and government of the Republic of Karelia, a unique expedition will take place. Two Russian travelers Fedor Konyukhov and a resident of Karelia Victor Simonov will take a tour of crossing the Artic expanse by dogsled. They will dogsled from the northern part of Karelia up to the North Pole and all the way down to the southern coast of Greenland. Four crosses from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia were passed over to Fedor Konyukhov for the expedition. A cross of the Armenian Apostolic Church, consecrated by priests of Moscow’s St. Harutyun Church on March 24 Palm Sunday, has become a symbol of support for the mission. On March 27, the cross, soil from Armenia and the republic’s flag were officially passed to Fedor Konyukhov.
