IOC chief Rogge defends Olympics sports selection process![]() May 31, 2013 - 15:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - IOC president Jacques Rogge has defended the process that led to the removal of wrestling from the Olympic programme and the sport's quick return as a candidate for inclusion in the 2020 Games, AP reported. Rogge says, "I don't seen any shortcoming in the system", which resulted in wrestling being eliminated from the list of core sports by the International Olympic Committee in February and then selected this week as a possible additional sport on the 2020 programme. Wrestling made a shortlist with baseball/softball and squash for a single opening in 2020. The IOC will vote in September on which sport to include. If wrestling wins, it means no new sport will be brought in as originally planned. Rogge said: "You don't go for a new one for the sake of a new one." Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup.
